Illinois State Coon Hunters

Coonhunting is a night time sport due to the raccoon being primarily a nocturnal animal. We are regulated by the IDNR and must abide by all Illinois game codes. Competition bench show and night hunts are held year round at local clubs, which may qualify dogs for the Illinois Governor's Cup Championship.

In 2009 there are eight state bench shows and night hunts. Three of those being youth hunts for children 17 years of age and under, three State Hunts a Scholarship Hunt and the Illinois Governor's Cup Championship.
